Port Macquarie Museum showcases the best of Port Macquarie's history from its British settlement as a penal colony in 1821, through to the present day as a popular tourist resort town. The museum's significant collection is displayed in 14 award winning rooms and galleries, in a series of themed exhibits. Displays are regularly updated and temporary exhibitions are held from time to time. Port Macquarie was one of the earliest convict settlements outside of Sydney.
