The Reserve is a nature refuge and protects over 2000 hectares of Savanna woodland, including 350 acres of regionally important wetlands. Income from sustainable tourism is reinvested in the Reserve to manage and research its exceptional biodiversity, such as the breeding and reintroduction program for the critically endangered Gouldian Finch. A daily wildlife safari in the custom-designed, safari vehicle allows excellent wildlife and bird life viewing while touring the Reserve at a leisurely pace. Kangaroos, wallabies and emus are regularly sighted, along with many of the Reserve's 222 bird species.
