Hawthorn Lodge has been welcoming guests since 1869. A delightful heritage listed building in the rural village of Bushy Park, 40 minutes from Hobart and close to Mt Field National Park with the famous Russell Falls. Hawthorn Lodge is famed as the home of "hops" which were introduced by the Shoobridge family. Around the property hops are still grown and guests can view the original hop houses . Traditional welcoming Tasmanian hospitality is provided. Guests having full access to the gardens, lounges, farm kitchen and veranda. Rooms are furnished with high quality linen and fittings with both en suite and shared facilities available. Breakfast is provided to all guests and makes full use of local fruits, home made bread, yoghurt and preserves much of which is cultivated at Hawthorn Lodge. Transfers from Hobart are available. This includes the very popular Overland Track transfer service Hawthorn Lodge provides for guests walking the overland track. Hawthorn Lodge is a perfect base for southern Tasmania with Hobart easily reached in one direction and the world heritage area in another. For adventure seekers kayaking if offered on the Derwent river and mountain biking at the Maydena Bike Park.
