One of the most popular stops on tourist drive 34 through the Tweed Valley, Chillingham is located just 15 minutes from Murwillumbah nestled inside the erosion caldera of the Mount Warning Shied Volcano and is the gateway to Springbrook National Park and the rock archway known as the Natural Bridge. Chillingham is home to the Tweed’s very own ‘bush tucker man’, Buck Buchanan. Buck grows a fascinating variety of local and exotic citrus fruits available in his roadside stall and he happily takes visitors on a tour of his Bush Tucker Garden. Follow the historic walk from the Bushtucker Gardens along the river past the Pioneer Wall to the Old Butcher Shop Pottery, the owner and resident potter John Gillson has lovingly restored the villages' old butcher shop into a showcase for his stunning ceramics. The centre of the local community is the Chillingham General Store and Community Centre, walking into the Chillingham Store is a bit like walking back into the nineteenth century. Markets are held at the Community Centre on the second Sunday of each month 8am till 1pm.
